Cloverleaf Yarn

From Farm to Field

Why Cloverleaf Yarn

We're a small independent farm, we do the entire end to end process of raising the sheep from lamb, sheering, skirting, washing & drying, spinning and colouring.

Cloverleaf Yarn

Below is just a step by step of the process we take to get your garment to you.

Fleece

It takes a year for the fleece to grow

Sheering

Professional shearer's take about 3 minutes to shear each sheep. Thank you Neil

Skirting

Skirting and sorting for quality takes about an hour per fleece

Washing And Drying

Washing and drying can only be completed on sunny days and can take 2-3 days

Spinning

It takes about a day to spin one bobbin, this is a single, when you have 3 bobbins they are "plyed" together to balance the yarn. The yarn is then washed and "thwacked" to set the spin.

Colouring

The yarn can now be dyed this will take up to 3 days
